Fly Fishing at Sundance

Experience an Angler’s Paradise in the Heart of Utah

Immerse yourself in the beauty that surrounds Sundance Resort with one of our most premier outdoor experiences — fly fishing. Just five minutes from the Resort, the Blue Ribbon Provo River is home to some of the best fly fishing in the state of Utah. The Provo River is a world-class fishery, with its clear, cold waters providing a home to German Brown and Rainbow trout. Anyone from beginners to seasoned anglers can enjoy a day of fly fishing with the help of experienced guides.

Excursions for All Experience Levels

Guests can choose from a variety of guided fishing trips, from half-day to full-day excursions, that are tailored to both beginners and experienced anglers. The guides are knowledgeable about the local waters and can help visitors select the best flies and techniques for catching fish. They also provide all the necessary gear, including rods, reels, and waders.

With almost four thousand fish per mile, the Provo River should be on any experienced angler’s bucket list! Spend a day with a world-class guide who can take you to water that will test your ability and give you stories to tell for years to come. Utah’s waters are relatively unknown, and even the most seasoned anglers will be blown away by the adventures that await on the Provo River.

New to fly fishing? Beginners are our favorite kind of client! With easy access and walk and wade fishing, the Provo River is one of the best rivers in the world to learn on. Our guides love teaching new-comers, watching them experience the joy of their first catch, and having the opportunity to teach correct form and best practices from the start. Before heading to the river, beginners can participate in a fly casting clinic on the lawn to learn the art of casting a fly rod before doing the real thing.

Fly casting clinics aren’t just for beginners, though! Come work on your form with us in the cool mountain air before heading out on your fishing excursion. We also hold Fly Tying Clinics, where we specialize in teaching clients to tie flies that work well on the Provo River. This clinic will also cover basic entomology to help you know how to choose the right fly on the river. Clinics are 2 hours long and can accommodate up to 5 people at a time.

Group Outings and Women’s Clinics

Group fly fishing outings at Sundance are a great way to enjoy a day on the water with family, friends, or colleagues. We offer a variety of group packages, from small groups of four to larger groups of up to twenty. Our experienced guides will customize the trip to meet the needs of your group, whether it’s a leisurely day of fishing or a more challenging adventure. There’s no better way to build your team or bond with friends and family than with a scenic day in the wilderness together!

Did you know women are the fastest growing group of anglers? Women pick up fly fishing very quickly.  Fly fishing is a finesse sport, where using too much muscle is the wrong approach, so our female clients tend to be our most natural anglers! Our Women’s Clinics provide hands-on instruction and guidance to help women improve their skills and confidence on the water. Participants learn everything from casting techniques to fly selection, as well as how to read the water and identify fish. These clinics are also a great way to connect with other women who share a passion for fly fishing and the outdoors!

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced angler, fly fishing at Sundance Resort is an adventure that you will never forget. We can’t wait to see you on the Provo River! Book your fly fishing adventure today.
