Whether you’re staying with us on the mountain or you’re a frequent local visitor with a craving for excellent barbecue in Utah county, don’t miss your chance to visit The Lookout! Reinvented from the original Creekside Cafe, this restaurant with a view serves up delectable mountain barbecue alongside sweeping views of the Wasatch.
The Lookout is a fast-casual restaurant with outdoor seating and is a great option for a quick meal between your outdoor adventures when you visit Sundance! Head to the counter to place your order, and we’ll have your food out in no time. You’ll want to savor the flavors and the views, though, so don’t eat too quickly! Claim a spot on the patio and enjoy mountain views and people-watching as bikers, hikers and adventurers make their way up and down the base of the mountain.
The menu at The Lookout is stacked with incredible options that change seasonally, and believe us when we say the food is so good you’ll probably want to visit more than once during your stay! Guests are continually naming the brisket as a favorite menu item, and for good reason. Our pitmaster, Alex, comes from Austin, Texas where he spent 15 years at Terry Black’s Barbecue perfecting the art of smoking meat.
Alex’s smoked-to-perfection brisket is served several different ways. Enjoy it on a classic BBQ plate or sandwiched between two pieces of classic Texas toast. For the more adventurous palates, try the brisket taco, or go all out with the fan-favorite loaded tots! Our loaded tots are piled high with smoked brisket, BBQ ranch, green onions and cheese sauce. Mouthwatering is an understatement!
Brisket isn’t pitmaster Alex’s only specialty — he is also the mastermind behind our new, irresistible BBQ sauce, which you’ll find on the menu at The Lookout. Looking for a lighter option? The Smoked Turkey Cobb Salad is one of the most frequently ordered items on the menu! A crisp bed of romaine is loaded with house-smoked turkey, avocado, bacon, egg, colby jack cheese and topped with BBQ ranch.
Whether you’re coming from or heading out on a Sundance mountain adventure, The Lookout is the perfect spot to enjoy a spectacular view from the base of the resort. Planning to visit us for the day for a horseback ride at the Sundance Stables or one of our famous scenic Zip Tours? A couple of hours on the mountain on horseback or flying through the sky will make you work up an appetite!
The Lookout is open Friday-Sunday from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, so be sure to coordinate your day trip with our open hours if you’d like to pay us a visit! There’s no better way to toast the end of a great day than with a plate full of mountain barbecue and your favorite drink in hand.
Invite your friends, pull up a chair, and enjoy some hearty comfort food. The best part of your Sundance story is the people you share it with, and stories are best shared around the table together!
