A New Era for Day Skiers

Experience the Mountain Camp Transformation at Sundance Resort

Sundance Mountain Resort has long been a favorite among Utah ski resorts, offering an intimate setting and exceptional terrain. With the Mountain Camp transformation (the upper parking areas near Jake’s Lift), we’ve made significant improvements to enhance the day skier experience. Whether it’s the brand-new day lodge and expanded parking for 2024-25, plus last winter’s road reroute that allowed for top-to-bottom skiing, these updates are part of mark a a new chapter for Sundance: Act2.

Rest and Refuel at Mountain Camp Day Lodge

The brand-new Mountain Camp Day Lodge is set to become the heart of day skier activities. Located just steps from the expanded parking areas near Jake’s Lift, the lodge offers everything you need to start, pause, and finish your ski day with ease.

With cozy locker rooms, a convenient ticket office, gear rentals, and a ski school home base, it’s designed to make your visit as smooth as possible. Hungry or in need of a quick rest? The lodge has ample space for you to relax, refuel with a snack or drink from the Mountain Camp Cafe, and enjoy views of the surrounding mountain scenery. With its proximity to Jake’s Lift, you’ll be just a quick hop away from hitting the slopes again. Mountain Camp Day Lodge isn’t just a place to store your gear—it’s a warm, welcoming hub for the Sundance Resort ski community.

Smoother Parking for Day Skiers

Aerial view of two parking lots separated by a road. The left lot is mostly filled with cars, while the right lot is newly paved and empty. Trees and a few buildings surround the area, creating a mix of natural and urban elements.

One of the biggest challenges the ski industry has faced over the years during ski season is parking. On busy weekends and powder days, the limited parking spaces in the resort’s narrow valley base often caused challenges for skiers and riders. But with recent expansions, parking is now easier and more accessible than ever.

Over the past few summers, Sundance Resort’s parking capacity has been steadily increasing. In 2021, we added 90 new spots in Lot E, followed by an additional 88 spots in 2023 across Lots D and E. Most recently, in the summer of 2024, another 110 spots were added to Lot E. These expansions mean that locals and visitors can now enjoy more convenient access to the slopes. We should also mention these are paved parking lots, to ensure a smoother experience from the moment you arrive!

Upgrades for a More Efficient Experience

At Sundance Resort, we’re committed to continually improving our ski experience, and this year’s removal of Jake’s midstation, along with last years road reroute (who remembers having to click out of their skis to cross the road, only to strap back in to ride down to Jake’s base?!) has dramatically improved the Mountain Camp base area. Without the stop in the middle of the run, skiers can now enjoy an uninterrupted ride down the mountain, leading to a smoother, more enjoyable descent.

A ski lift station named "Outlaw Express" at Sundance Resort Utah, with skiers in winter gear gathered around, set against a backdrop of snow-covered mountains.

This is just one of many ways our terrain has been enhanced to create the best possible experience for all skiers and riders! The installation of Outlaw Express, as well as the new lift and terrain in the Wildwood area, plus the snowmaking improvements in the past few years have been major additions to our Act2 era locals and visiting guests all appreciate.

Whether you’re a season pass holder or just planning a ski day this winter, we invite you to experience the exciting changes at Sundance Mountain Resort. With the transformation of the Mountain Camp area, enhanced Sundance parking, and improved ski experience, you’ll discover why Sundance continues to be a standout among Utah ski resorts!
