Sundance Mountain Resort Awarded One Michelin Key In 2024 Michelin Guide

Robert Redford’s legacy destination resort in Utah is recognized for its excellence in hospitality, from service and comfort to personality and design

Provo, Utah –  October 1, 2024Sundance Mountain Resort, the premier four-season destination nestled at the base of Utah’s iconic Mount Timpanogos, has been awarded One MICHELIN Key in the 2024 MICHELIN Guide. For over 100 years, the MICHELIN Guide’s selections have been the fruit of the passionate, independent work of its inspection teams, guiding the most discerning gourmets and travelers to the world’s finest establishments, and for the first time, it is taking a major step forward by creating a similar distinction for hotels and accommodations: the MICHELIN Key. This recognition comes at a pivotal time for Sundance Mountain Resort as it announces Act II of its evolution, introducing updates to enhance the overall resort and skier experience, headlined by the forthcoming opening of the Inn at Sundance.

Founded by Robert Redford in 1969, Sundance Resort occupies over 3,000 acres and offers an array of activities and experiences while remaining dedicated to land conservation. Having seen new ownership changes in 2020, and new developments such as The Springs– a tucked away trio of relaxation pools and an outdoor sauna, the new Outlaw Express lift which trims 13 minutes for riders to reach the Mandan summit, as well as The Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort, a new-build accommodation set to debut in the 2025-2026 season, Sundance Mountain Resort strikes a melodic balance between preservation and development.

“The One MICHELIN Key distinction is an honor and tribute to Sundance Resort Founder Robert Redford’s forward-thinking vision of prioritizing the guest experience, and also to dedicated team members who bring that to life every day,” said President & General Manager, Chad Linebaugh. “I hope people around the world view this recognition as an invitation and come experience the magic of Sundance Resort for themselves. This is a place you don’t truly “get” until you are here.”

In the resort’s current “Act II” phase, the flagship project is the highly anticipated Inn at Sundance, which broke ground in Summer 2024 and is set for the 2025-2026 ski season. Modern and western, rugged yet refined, the Inn will span two buildings to ensure it doesn’t stand higher than the tallest surrounding tree. Also opening for the 2025-2026 ski season are Village Homes, which will add six slopeside residences. In development for the upcoming ski season is the Mountain Camp Day Lodge – a home base for day-skiers’ with lockers, a ticket office, ski school, gear rentals and more all in one hub right next to the recently expanded resort parking. Lastly, resort’s guest cottages are seeing tasteful upgrades to their design including new appliances, countertops, window dressing, and furnishings, all while upholding the original rustic feels that lends so much charm to visiting guests’ experience.

Far from being standardized, the MICHELIN Guide celebrates the richness and diversity of the international hospitality and gastronomic scenes with authenticity and conviction. Selection criteria for the MICHELIN Keys include access as an open door to the destination, excellence in interior design and architecture, quality and consistency in service, comfort and maintenance, consistency between the level of experience and the price paid, and individuality, reflecting personality and authenticity.
